Panama City, September 12, 2024 — During the International Meeting “Dialogues for Development,” organized by CAF and the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (PARLATINO), Nery Rodas officially assumed the position of Vice President on the Board of Directors of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament, representing Guatemala. This appointment strengthens Guatemala’s commitment to parliamentary dialogues focused on sustainable development and governance in the region.

The event, held at PARLATINO’s permanent headquarters in Panama, aimed to examine the economic, social, and environmental challenges facing Latin America and the Caribbean. Rodas actively participated in discussions on the economic and political challenges affecting the region, highlighting the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation to promote policies that drive sustainable development.

In his statement, Rodas said: “It is an honor to take on this role on behalf of Guatemala at a crucial time for the development of our region. I am committed to working with my colleagues to face the challenges ahead and to find solutions that benefit all member countries.”

The International Meeting “Dialogues for Development” brought together international experts and regional parliamentarians to discuss key issues such as economic recovery, multi-level governance, overcoming poverty and social inequality, and the climate actions necessary to mitigate the effects of climate change.

With this new responsibility, Nery Rodas strengthens his leadership in regional politics, taking a prominent role in promoting political and institutional reforms for the benefit of Latin America and the Caribbean.
